Mom and dad said I loved playing basketball for the school team. I was always around church basketball with dad when I was a kid, so really wanted to play basketball and enjoyed doing it. It was probably my idea – I came home and wanted to play it. This was different than baseball – which was dad’s idea.
Mom and dad said they always tried to be involved in the activities we were doing somehow.
Mom said when I was a kid it was easy for me to get really passionate about something I was involved in, so it was easy for me to spend time with it and pick things up and get better at them. I also seemed to pick friends that liked doing the same things I liked doing, so we would get better together.
Mom said I didn’t have a problem moving to a different friend if I needed to move on or had different or new interests. It was easy and not emotional for me to disconnect and move on.
Mom said when there were anxious situations she wondered if I internalized them.
Mom and dad said they wanted to really help me make friends and relate to other people so they did their best to give me “normal” experiences as much as possible.
