When sitting at the fireworks on Thursday night I realized, with a bit of emotion, that July 4 in Petoskey may be our family’s most consistent traditions.
I remember early in our marriage when Sarah said she wanted to always come to Petoskey for the 4th of July fireworks. We’ve mostly done that, coming over the summers since we were married, and consistently the week of July 4th since 2010 – when Jackson was 3, Parker was 1, and Elly was a plan.
I am so grateful for Sarah for her natural thoughts to create these lived experiences for me and our family. I know without her we would have a much less vibrant life.
This is probably our longest-standing family tradition. We’ve been doing it since we’ve all been together. I love the week we spend together up here visiting the beach and our favorite restaurants, spending time with family, going on walks, reading books, seeing movies, and playing on the water.
