The ward would have these morning picnics every year at Mount Airy.
As kids we would come early to help dad reserve the shelter. We would get up and be there at the crack of dawn and just play and build fires.
Our feet would get all wet from the dew but we thought it was fun. We got to play with our friends and run around in the woods and build a campfire. It was a tradition and something the kids looked forward to each year.
We were always playing as kids so mom had to watch us all the time.
One year the YM had to arm wrestle dad to see who had to come early. Jerome Weddle tried but lost so he had to come early.
