I was a catcher in part because my dad was a catcher. It helped me be part of the game throughout the whole game (as opposed to being in the outfield all of the time where not a lot happened).
When I was a kid I was really fast and could accelerate really quickly. I was on third base once to run home. The coach told me to get in a pickle because he knew I could outrun them and score. So…I got in a pickle and was able to get home and score.
Mom said I loved baseball. Some of it was because my best friend played on the team and the coach was really positive and upbeat. It was a fun positive experience. Mom thinks I probably wanted to do good for my parents. I was good at it. I was fast off the blocks.
Every Saturday it was a thing for the whole family to come to games.
Around middle school I stopped having as much fun. I was having a lot of problems with my feet pain and the teams became much more competitive so I lost some interest.
