2020

We went to Grandma Brown’s 100th Birthday party with Steve’s family, and got to go on a Segway tour of the town, play Bingo, and see everyone right as COVID was starting to become a fear around the world.
I had to take Sarah to the hospital after she tried cutting her finger off doing a house project.
Elly and I always look forward to our Daddy-Daughter dances at the elementary school!
Sarah got me tickets to the Dashboard Confessional concert in Chicago during the last weekend in February. We snuck down to the floor before the concert and had a great view and great time. It was one of the last concerts he had before the pandemic shut everything down.
When school was closed, we had free breakfast and lunch pickups for any kids in the community.
Initially when the kids were doing remote school, they would do it anywhere – in the kitchen, the office, their bedrooms…
Sarah and Elly made a little garden box outside since we were stuck at home so much this year.
I let my beard grow for 100 days before cutting it. I originally said I wouldn’t cut it until we went back to school…but that didn’t happen as quickly as we thought it would.
Since we didn’t feel comfortable doing much for trips, we spent some time in the summer at the O’Brien’s house in TX while I worked form home. This started becoming an annual tradition.
This is Elly jumping off the Petoskey Break Wall for the first time!
We switched all of our trip plans (we were thinking of doing an Italy trip) since all the travel stuff was crazy during 2020 and instead went on a National Park tour. Then we only had to worry about being close to other people in hotels.
We met up with family in Utah and had some fun activities, including 2-trekking.
Ben’s family “joined” our ward during COVID so I could interview Whit and oversee his baptism while they didn’t have a steady ward. He got baptized in the River Jordan in UT.
Our start of school dinner was a little different, since we didn’t know what to expect for school this year.
My parents got a new house in Indianapolis and we did a trip downtown to see the city.
Sarah worked to make every nook and cranny a fun place for our kids…since we were spending so much time home. This is in our crawl space.
Illinois made elections a holiday so I didn’t have to work, so Sarah and I were elections judges for the 2020 general elections in November.
Since none of our family felt comfortable getting together for Thanksgiving we decided to go to Destin as a family and had Thanksgiving on the beach.
The ski slopes were still open for Christmas that year.
